Having seen the MinMax Travel experience recommended on another website, I was keen to have a go. We booked prior to our departure through their website, and received a swift response confirming the details. The experience itself was fantastic. We were greeted warmly by our excellent guide, Long, who then accompanied us on a bike journey to the outskirts of Hanoi. We were given our bicycles, then set off to explore the area. On our visit, we toured traditional villages and chatted to the locals. The highlight for us was when we were invited to eat lunch in the home of the head of the village.

Overall, this is a fantastic experience for anyone wishing to see something of the 'real' Vietnam. The day was the highlight of our trip to Hanoi, largely because of the warm welcome we received, not just from our guide but also from the local villagers. It is perhaps important to say that if you are a hardcore cycling enthusiast looking for a day of mountain biking then this is not the experience for you. Our bikes were somewhat basic (no gears and limited braking ability!) and I would describe the cycling as easy, as there were no hills and we stopped frequently to look at things along the roadside. For us, this was perfect and I would have no hesitation in recommending this excellent experience to others. If you are open-minded and interested in experiencing Hanoi in a totally unique way, this is an unforgettable way to do it.
